Trim is a personal financial assistant that saves money for you. First, Trim analyzes your transaction history to show you all of your subscriptions. Then we cancel anything you don’t want to keep paying for. Going forward, we provide a set of commands and notifications to help you organize your financial life.
In the future, we plan to offer a premium, high-touch financial advising service. We'll always keep offering a free option.
You can sign up securely with your online banking login information. We’ll also ask for your phone number, to send you a security code via text.
Most likely! On the bank selection screen, click "View More" at the bottom, then search the name of your bank or credit card provider in the search bar. We support more than 20,000 U.S. financial institutions. If you can't find your bank, email us at help@asktrim.com.
Make sure that you're using the correct credentials. These are the same credentials you use to log into your financial institution's online banking website. If it's still not working, please email us at help@asktrim.com.
Make sure that you put in the correct number and that you're sending the code to a US mobile phone. Standard messaging rates apply. Currently we don't support non-US numbers.
Yes. From your dashboard, click “Add Another Account.”
Yes - extremely. We use 256-bit SSL encryption on our website, encrypted databases, and two-factor authentication when you sign in. You can read more here.
First, you authorize us to cancel by texting us "Cancel ____." Second, we contact the biller on your behalf - typically with a template email, and occasionally with a phone call. Some billers require a little more effort: for example, we'll send certified mail to cancel your old gym membership.
Yes! If we're able to cancel with the biller, we'll do it for free.
Your data is only used for you: we don’t sell it or use it in any way other than what we’ve explained already. We safeguard your data using bank-level security at all times. We don’t ever share your data with third parties.
First, our algorithms scan your bill and look for merchant names that we already know use recurring payments, e.g. The New York Times, Netflix, and Spotify. This method identifies 98% of your subscriptions instantly – even if you subscribed very recently. Next, our system looks for recurring payments of the same amount to the same merchant in subsequent months. We leave out merchants like coffee shops, where you may be buying the same coffee every week but it’s not a subscription. If you find anything we’ve missed, please let us know: help@asktrim.com.
We'd love to reduce the cost of those -- like cable, car insurance, student loan payments, etc. Stay tuned!
We’ll keep trying. Trim will automatically scan your transactions on a recurring basis and look for new subscriptions. Our system will notify you when a new subscription is charged to your account.
